MANILA - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has sought the help of several car experts in its probe on alleged faulty Mitsubishi Montero sport utility vehicles (SUVs).
In an interview with radio dzMM, DTI Undersecretary Vic Dimagiba said Friday DTI invited five to six experts to their hearing on December 2 to probe supposed incidents of the car model's sudden unintended acceleration (SUA).
"Hanggang ngayon, wala po kaming narinig na nagsabing isang senso o isang switch ang kailangan mong palitan ang dahil maaaring doon nanggagaling ang SUA. Iyun po ang ating tutuntunin," Dimagiba said.
Also set to give their expert opinion are officials from the Product Design Center of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Representatives of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) and drivers who have allegedly experienced SUA will also attend the investigation.
The MMPC earlier told a House Committee on Trade and Industry hearing that there had been 97 reported SUA cases.
Six people have reportedly died because of the issue.
